#149354 - Nothing specifically to do with PCs, then! Responding to: ???'s previous message |

Well I was in fact referring to the IP ports So you understand that this has nothing specifically to do with PCs? The IP "Port" concept remains exactly the same irrespective of the platform and any operating system. I said there were 65k of them. Careful: 65k = 65 x 1000 = 65000 - so there are "roughly" 65k of them (as a round number); there are actually 64K = 64 x 1024 = 65536 Was toying around with the ... ShieldsUp program...
The tutorial link that you had given on winsock, will have the required answers. In that case, it may well be at rather too low a level for you - it's intended for people working at the basic protocol level. You probably want something more from a user's (or, perhaps, administrator's) perspective. Again, as this is to do with IP in general, not PCs in particular, any IP networking tutorial should do. You could try: http://compnetworking.about.com/cs/basict..._tcpip.htm See: http://www.8052.com/forum/read.phtml?id=147685 |
