Incidentally have you ever read through the link on the left, "8052 TCP/IP" ? It can make things clear and clarify some of your doubts ...

And this networking stuff is quite a thing to get comfortable fast. So many acronyms and settings ;-)) I recently plunged into this just to see if I can network about 10 computers in one of my offices and give preferential access to broadband internet to some of them. And later added a 802.11g Wi-Fi access point so that I can hook up my notebook without plugging the LAN cable. Its up and running fine and has been a good learning process. Some minor things are still not clear - one of which I have posted in a separate thread here.
