#143647 - Conference Report
The 8052.com Conference was held last weekend in Tilburg, The Netherlands.

It was stated, that the 8052 derivatives have still their place as one of the diverse tools of the modern electronics engineer.

The participants talked about the various tools available for 8052 development, including modern commercial debugging tools, and the selection of compilers and interpreters available for 8052. An interesting discussion arose about the use of 8052 in small home automation projects. A work on 8051-based complex chip used within a much larger project with was presented, where the lack of proper documentation and/or its inappropriateness in this sort of special purpose chips has been addressed. A very interesting complex 8052-based computer project has been presented.

The SDCC section discussed various aspects of the compiler and its environment; some of the problems around licencing parts of the whole suite; the impact of the developer of dominant commercial compiler being sold to ARM; and other related topics.

The Conference also celebrated the 10th anniversary of 8052.com with the cake (see Appendix A).

There were several social events associated with the Conference, where the participants further discussed topics directly and indirectly related to the 8052, working and using it in various applications.

I would like to thank Maarten Brock for helping with the organisation and generously donating the cake, and all the participants for the great time we had.

Jan Waclawek
