Could leave audio connected to vcr and use video converter for the tv. I just put video box behind the dresser? Yeah, this is way off topic, but that's what the chat forum is for, right? Now I know this will get Erik's panties all bunched up, but there are legitimate reasons for defeating MacroVision and other schemes to screw the consumer. Back before DVDs were invented we used to buy movies on VHS tape. Knowing how fragile tapes are, we made copies and placed the originals in a safe environment, then viewed the copies. If a tape broke or otherwise malfunctioned, we could always make a new copy from the original. Yes, Erik, that is fair use. Since many VHS tapes had MacroVision "protection", and since in my younger days I made money on the side repairing TVs, I knew enough about TV technology to design a simple circuit to remove the MacroVision signals. Basically, they insert signals in the horizontal retrace period that muck with the receiver's AGC circuitry. Eliminate those signals and no problem. Whether or not that applies to your situation with DVDs is something you'll have to determine. If so, and if MacroVision is preventing you from viewing legitimately bought and paid for movies, then pick up a good text on TV technology (or Google for the information) and the solution to your problem should be simple--assuming you can design an rf circuit with a few ICs and can whip together a breadboard. No, I don't have the schematic for my solution in a form that I can post anywhere; it's drawn on paper. And since it's not an issue for DVDs (in most cases), I don't even use it anymore. Hi Jeff: Thanks for your reply Jeff. I am not interested in the MacroVision problem. If I could get out using vcr for my audio and video this would be great. I think their is a unit I can purchase that will combine my video and audio to my tv from the playstation 2 dvd player. I just don't know what its called so I can find it online or in a store. best regards, Ralph Sac |
