people do implement their own versions of it but they have to say 'I2C? never heard of it' in order to avoid philips demanding licencing fees from them.
Looking at the spec it verry similar to the MPEG digital video standard,very similar coding techniques and so on, and I worked on a decoder which took 6 man years to develop in an FPGA device using an 68000 to handle a lot of the house keeping stuff.Mind you that was capable of recording the video onto a striped hard disc set under NT.So you might find its not as easy as it looks. |
