You don't always want your compiler to strictly adhere to the ansi standard.
of course not, what I stated is that if it does not it need be an option unless the compiler is staed explicitly as non-compliant I enable several "make the compiler different from the standard" options when compiling for the '51`, the point is they must be options requiring enabling or the compiler can not claim ANSI compliance.
