#137900 - I\'ve done the CP2102
Responding to: ???'s previous message
Hi Dave,

I've done the CP2102 (SiLabs UART to USB bridge). It has 28 pads around the 5mm x 5mm perimeter, plus the GND pad in the corner and on the bottom. If you can stencil the solder paste on, and place the part without smearing it, it will reflow easily with a benchtop oven or a hot air pencil. If you use a hot air gun (or any hot air source for that matter) be very careful not to let the moving air displace the part. Whether from jitters when you place the part, or from too much air moving too fast, on the scale of these pads it doesn't take very much movement to produce a boatload of solder bridges. And that will be your pinch point in being able to do this. Placement of the part is the hard part. Melting the solder is then easy.

Good luck,

Joe
