#135971 - Do green LEDs have worse reliability? |
Most of the traffic lights in the Austin area have been replaced with LED bulbs. As I commute to work, I stare at a lot of different lights.
I have noticed that while I almost never see a defective red LED bulb, maybe 10% to 20% of the green bulbs have a dead chain of LEDs. Is this just anecdotal evidence, or is there a problem with green LEDs? (Or in the design of the green LED bulb?) (This seems like a good question for Erik.) I don't see enough of the yellow LEDs to determine their status. They also have a lower duty cycle which might affect the reliability. |
