In the past we have used TVicPort and TVicHW and similar modules that you slot in between your software and the OS/hardware. They come components if you are writing in Borland Delphi/CBuilder and also as DLLs and ActiveX controls. With enough searching you should be able to find something that works for you. At least until Vista, then you're really screwed ;-)
The parallel port is one of the worst to deal with and I don't have much experience in that matter. There are too many variables (even bios settings for mode, e.g. EPP or other). That's part of the reason that USB has done so well. GB |
