USB however requires windows 98 or better for maximal support, and even then, if you use it, you need to add decoding logic to make it work with your hardware.


There is still something like USB-to-serial converters. You cannot expect 99% of all users to pay for keeping a serial port, if they got no use for it.

What use is a parallel port if there are no longer devices with a parallel port? Most printers nowadays are either USB or network connected. no need for an LPT-port...

Floppy disks: Why use them if the average memo written in the almost omnipresent horror of Micro$oft Word does not fit on a single floppy?

Besides, we all got flash memory sticks now, don't we?
