Not only is it hungry for memory and processing speed, it takes away things that can benefit us in the microcontroller world, like serial and parallel ports! I also see that there are no floppy disk drives in the newest computers. and the benefit to parallel ports is that you can easily send a byte to another device from your computer with minimal circuitry. USB however requires windows 98 or better for maximal support, and even then, if you use it, you need to add decoding logic to make it work with your hardware. |
