The Dallas parts can do autoincrement and autoswitch dptr on access. And since you're willing to give this operation 2 clock ticks all these parts ask is that it may use the accumulator.

movx a,@dptr ;with dptr0++
movx @dptr,a ;with dptr1++

Both take 1 clock tick.
