#125337 - Thanks anyway
Responding to: ???'s previous message

I'm sure the code would've been easier for you if it was in 'c' - but as I said, I'd have to polish it a bit and that would take some time. Most of my code is used in commercial applications

I understand.

You still haven't told me what flavour of Modbus you're intending to use.

I am planning to use the RTU which seems to be the most popular, but I have now got the ASCII version working, my microcontroller card is now receiving modbus frames from the PC. Modbus is a stop gap arrangement, my ultimate goal is to implement the BACnet protocol, since I am into manufacture of building automation products, I have purchased the BACnet standard, it is almost 700 pages and going to take a lot of time to study, understand and implement.

modbus rtu - rtu uses time to frame the packet so then you have the question of how do you flag this with a circular buffer?

I know about this 3.5 character times at the begenning and the end of the modbus frames, I think this has to be timed in the interrupt and stuffed into the buffers in the interrupt. The problem is I have chosen a completely new microcontroller the Renesas R8C/25, which has too many timers, now I have to study both, if only it was the 8051...

John, if you do want 'c' code and support, I'm sure we can come to a commercial agreement. I'm sure my extensive experience will save you a lot of time.

Thank you for the offer, I will consider this and contact you if the need arises.

Regards,
John.
