Not really fair, as I was learing about 51/52 architecture, and hardware at the same time.

Why on earth do you expect it to be faster in C? What would make a difference?

HLL programming I guess. Personally BASIC was the first language I learned at a pretty early age, right now I would prefer it over C, as I feel there is more flow control there. I guess experience will be the only thing to make a difference.
