#123043 - exploding computers Responding to: ???'s previous message |
The BBC famously commisioned a home computer here in england in the early 1980s based on a 6805 I believe ( with the option to add a Z80 as a second processor)the BBC 'A' and the BBC 'B' and they made several programms about basic programming and stuff, they also made a cheaper version called the electron which was basically the same design but with less of everything, the story was that the electron had some kind of error state which stated that some error had occured and in order to prevent the computer from exploding you had to dunk it in a bucket of water, and of course the BBC was inundated with calls from worried users asking if they should have a bucket of water standing by just in case. |
