#122989 - Indian discovered zero. Responding to: ???'s previous message |
Hello Kai,
It was an Indian who discovered zero in math. They found an old hut with math equations that made use of zero in them. Of all things the equations were used to figure out square feet of the yard the hut was in. Discovery channel had a TV show documentating this. This is what killed the Roman numeral system but it still was used because of its wide spread use in representing positive numbers. The Chinese invented the mechanical clock around 980 AD. One of the dynasties emperor commissioned a smart guy to bring things up to date. One of the positive things he did for himself was he wrote everything he did down in books. The books were lost for two or three hundred years and discovered. Many think the clock were invented in Europe. Regards, Charles Bannister |
