I look at stuff that I have written years ago,and I think why didnt I do it this way instead its much better, then I try the new improved way and then I realise why I didnt do it like that the first time round, the new improved way doesnt work or its got some side effect which I had discovered before but forgotten about, and its too much effort to put some comment or you dont think of putting a comment saying 'dont try this the other way because it wont work'
