#121706 - Track components with an accounting program Responding to: ???'s previous message |
Hello David,
I use Peachtree accounting complete to keep track of components. They have an inventory section which allows you to track any component. It has reorder points which means anytime the inventory amount for that item gets below a certain point it will be flagged. When you build a project just add the components into an invoice and it will generate a bill of material with other detail information such as description, quantify on hand, Vendor part number and price. There is also much more information you can include it. Once you have built each device you can transfer it into the General Ledger which will give you a history of what you are using with a time line. Peachtree also has a detail reporting program which you can use to write special reports to suit your needs. About any complete account program has these features. I use Peachtree DOS version which I have seen at swap meets for as little as $1. It has an export part of the report which you can export data to other programs such ASCII delimited for Excel. There is a learning curve to any accounting program but if you stick with it you will have the best program for handling your components problems. Regards, Charles Bannister |
