#121705 - keeping track of components? |
Just wondering what you guys (and gals) do to keep track of commonly used components you use in your projects/products?
At the moment I have a few different products in the works. Until now, I've just made an excel spreadsheet for each project with all the part information in it for that project. However, that does not lend itself to being able to easily use common components like resistors, caps, etc. Copy/paste can introduce errors, not to mention not being able to easily track quantity on hand. So, I'm currently planning on making a small Access database that would keep track of all relevant part information, and be able to 'assign' parts to different projects. I think being able to generate BOMs and other reports from that would be much easier and robust than my current method. Thanks for any ideas or suggestions, -Dave |
