Are you familiar with the ISO model for comm's?
A terminal probably wants to interface at the application layer, while a monitor wants to interface at the link layer, which is much "lower" in the hierarchy. Those are very different approaches. The monitor processes no protocols beyond what is needed to grab and to jam raw packets, while the terminal will probably want to do that with complete messages. It's a choice you will probably have to make. RE |
