The purpose of the resistor varies with different ADCs. Most modern ADCs present a capacitive load, and the resistor may be used to form a bandwidth limiting RC network or to decouple the capacitance from the amplifier to improve settling behaviour.
The resistor will also introduce noise (inevitably) and a DC error if the ADC draws a significant input current. These errors set at upper limit on acceptable resistor values, but are strongly dependant on system requirements and device characteristics. |
