whatever you feel about Andy and yours truly, let me respond.

Andy, I and several others have a problem with those that find it easier to post a question than to take a brief glance at a datasheet or, in your case, an existing thread. It get quite tedious to give the same answer to the same question tens of times.

How do the assembly coding is done for the seven segment is indicating that you have not even taken the time to look at the many links to "sample code" that were to be found in the existing thread.

The question I want to know how the seven segment display works would have been answered better than anyone in this forum could, had you taken 10 minutes of your precious time and looked at a datasheet for a common cathode display and then a dtatasheet for a common anode display and then one of the links to "sample code".

If you dont wanna to help others
we all do want to help others, but there is a catch: if you want help, you have to do some work yourself, not just ask "do it for me".

If "it's in the datasheet" is not considered "help" then, in effect you are saying "for my entire career I will post every question I have on a forum, becuse looking at a datasheet is just too cumbersome".

If you have a problem with something in a datasheet post something like in the datasheet at http://datasheet.com/1234 on page 4 it states "..." I do not understand it. I have yet to see any response from anyone to such a post that was anything but friendly and helpful.

On the other hand "I want to know how the seven segment display works" indicates a total unwillingness to even do a minimal amount of work on your own and relying on unpaid support to carry you all the way.

there is the old adage "give a man a fish and he eats for a day, teach him to fish and he eats for life" which I apply here in the following form "give the poster the information and he can go on for a day, show him where to find information and he will go on for life"

anyhow, have fun,

Erik
