haven't used this myself, but this seems a nice project:
http://www.lis.inpg.fr/realise_au_lis/kicad/ Has anyone tried this? I use it quite a lot. I reckon it has a good chance of becoming a really good open source EDA package. I like it so much I started a user group for it at yahoo about six months ago: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/kicad-users/ We already have over 500 members. It is a young program - it has a primitive auto router so it is not suitable for much more than double sided boards - yet. However, it has an open interface and there is a very good autorouter developed at the University of Manchester, that people are working on connecting to Kicad. When this happens it will be capable of serious professional work. It is faster, better looking and a lot more intuitive to use than geda or Eagle for example, but then I am biased. Ian |
