#115321 - 8052 with 16 bit extension,yey!! |
Finally after weeks of struggling I have produced a prototype 8052 compatable controller with 16 bit extentions, the xilinx place and route tool is just starting a timing driven place and route in a spartan 3 which might take a few days to finish but I should at the end of that have a 8052 core which supports the standard 8052 instruction set PLUS 16 bit extentions which allow it to work with 16 bit words. All I need to do now is convince someone to write a compiler which supports the extended instruction set.Simulations suggest that a 25 MHz clock is possible, once I have identified the critical paths I am sure I can crank that up quite a bit. |
