But, Stevan, you need no extra pin on the processor for the "Auto" option, it's still just Rx and Tx (and, of course, /PSEN and RESET)! The "extra" signals come from the PC's COM port... please have a look on the diagram in the appnote once more.
Btw. Erik's NoTouch is a good idea; you simply implement some triggering mechanism to start ISP from you user program (e.g. the user prrogram tests for receiving "ISP" string, and if it occurs, it sets the bit needed for bootloader memory to be active and jumps to the bootloader start address). However, you still might need an emergency solution and also for the "first time" programming, a simple momentary switch (pushbutton) from /PSEN to ground will do. Jan Waclawek |
