I treated them all as an Analog part and used a common ground plan for all of them. The I/O signals from ADCs were carried to the digital section using the i-couplers. The Analog and Digital planes were not connected on the board, but were connected near the power supply at the Star point. Your concept seems to be what Analog Devices recommends, and I tend to believe it's the right way to go. What scheme did you use in your previous project ? That design I mention was not mine; the boards were done by someone else, and there were many jumpers to configure how the different grounds were connected.
