According to Henri Ott, just make sure you don't mix analog and digital in the same area. If you keep the analog to one end and the digital to the other, having the one ground plane is effectively the same as having two but joined under the ic in question and having more effective coverage. Obviously, where you place the power connector will influence the effectiveness. Try to visualise the path(s) the currents will flow. Like most things in engineering - it is a compromise. It is our job to balance the compromise and come up with the best solution to satisfies the requirements. |
