Could you specify which make inverter were they and in which year you have tested them?
Allen-Bradley, ABB, Siemens and I am sure there were more. In many cases we supplied the inverter that the customer specified. somewhere around 1998 Because of late there is tremendous improvement in AC drive tech like in IGBTs , Gate driver circuits, Overcurrent & shortcircuit protections innovations etc. It may be that you can use a 1200V unit with todays devices, but are you willing to take the risk to save $2?
