Yes it should be possible Steve but pointless you would need a pretty large torch and massive filler rod.
On the big wire feeder we run a flux core wire that looks huge until you start welding then your perspective shifts and it looks small compared to the pudddle. not sure what the actual filler concentration is but the deposition rate is around 10 lbs per hour.
