Just now I came to know one more wireless technology called CDPD (Cellular Digital Packet Data) runs on AT commands and UDP.

Is this the name for Qualcomm's equivalent of GPRS?

Distance coverage: 30 Miles

If you use the public cellular service (whatever it may be) distance is irrelevant - it's just a question of whether or not you have coverage at all the necessary locations.
As Erik says, cellular coverage inside buildings (especially industrial, steel-framed buildings) can be very trick...

Try putting "M2M into your favourite internet search engine - short for "Machine-to-Machine"
