You've had one hard drive crash in 3 years, so you conclude that "these new HDD's are not much reliable." Do you think that storing the Cylinder/Head/Sector numbers and so on (i am not talking about FAT tables) would take more than a KB ? Do these Controller boards don't have a 1KB free in the code section to store these important data ? IMHO doing this would lower the product reliablity too much. There is always easy ways to have the magnetic Data lost , not as easy to erase the flash memories ,i think so. I just stated them 'not much reliable' because of this. Statistics just tell you that 99.9% (or whatever) of hard drives will not fail before the PC is junked - they do not tell you whether you are one of the unlucky 0.1% who will suffer a failure. :-( I agree with you and accept these failures . |
