my actual problem is now i am working in a project where a 16 bit AMD188 microcontroller is induced and so i am asking all about a general microcontroller doubt. This forum is specifically about the 8051 family - so if you're asking a "general microcontroller" question, you need to make that clear! If it's a general microcontroller question, and not specifically 8051, you should probably use the 'Chat' forum. [UPDATE: I see that the moderators have now moved it!] ... boot code is placed in external memory and probably in the 0x00000th memory location ... For a general microcontroller question, it is obviously meaningless to start talking about specific behaviour and specific memory locations! For the 8051, program execution starts at address zero on reset; for the x86, it starts at FFFF:FFF0, if I remember correctly. when the microcontroller reaches to fffffth memory location it rolls over to 00000th memory location obviously rebooting the system No, that does not reboot the system. It may mean that it starts to run the boot code, but that is not the same as rebooting the system! |
