I'd think we'll see very few (if any) explosions with Lithium Polymer. Some older LiIon had a quite tough container, allowing more pressure to build before the contents could break through.

As seen from the linked video, the fire bursts quite instantaneously when the limit is reached. Lithium really do not like the moisture in the air. And Lithium + water will produce nice, flammable, hydrogen. So an overcharged LiIon battery isn't just a little "oops" handled with a bit of water or starved with a pan lid.
