Perhaps some don't want you to be able to sort out the actual facts until it's too late. Once in a while, you'll see that a one-clocker using a specific oscillator frequency is actually faster than a multi-clocker at a much higher frequency. This allows you to evaluate power and noise conditions before the fact, and, perhaps, pick up a bit of performance along the way.
