#181371 - Soldering the can...
Responding to: ???'s previous message

My Crystal is very small (compared to the one I used 8 years ago) ... Can I just solder the case and wire it to ground?

Soldering the can of a crystal is no good idea, because the crystal is fixed to the can inside by a tiny piece of high elastic glue. Heating the glue will make it dry out and losing elasticity.

If the can is small, there's no need to shunt the stray capacitance to ground by some piece of wire.
