Soldering the can of a crystal is no good idea, because the crystal is fixed to the can inside by a tiny piece of high elastic glue. Heating the glue will make it dry out and losing elasticity. If the can is small, there's no need to shunt the stray capacitance to ground by some piece of wire. Kai Klaas |
