Figure 7 in the Datasheet shows a transformer-isolated approach, where only the parts directly connected to the mains (the transformer primaries) are live - I would strongly recommend that you follow this approach, and keep the live parts in a closed, insultated box.

You still need to be careful, but the risks are reduced.
