I had used Asim Khan's programmers and had faced similar problems. ( I was also in a similar stress condition, as you are now).

Later, I read the whole document very carefully, and went through each and every connection, and component value in the circuit diagram. Read, it, re-read it, re-re-read it....you get the idea.

Bottom line is, use the exact components, mentioned in those diagram, do NOT play around with them, especially capacitors, use exact value of components.

Check and re-check each and every connection.

In your case I think you must have missed out the link jumper between pin 2 and 12 of the 25 pin connector....I had missed it in Asim Khan's programmer; it was also giving me the same error. I took me a whole day to identify it. It is a small point, but DO NOT miss it!!!
