If you can get it you want the PCA9685 from NXP. In one part you get 16 channels of PWM programmable in duty cycles from 0 to 4095 (12-bits). The frequency can be set from 40Hz to 1kHz. Another rather nice feature is that each channel switch period can be staggered from the others by a programmable amount. All this through an I2C interface into a 28 pin package that works over a wide voltage range. The 16 outputs are push pull and can source/sink at least 10 mA each.
