This sounds like a good choice. It is good if you get a commercial Atmel adapter for the processors that you mentioned, and which is also what K.L.Angelis recommended.
It would also be applicable if you elected to go with some other MCU series from another manufacturer and decided to acquire an adapter applicable to that family. BTW, if you are not already familiar with the SiLabs series you should take a look. Their nice little adapter (which I recall is about $35US) is both a programming pod and wonderfully also supports in FLASH debugging of your actual run time image code. Michael Karas |
