That would be subject to the usual provisos for (ab)using RTS and CTS on RS232 ports in general and USB-to-Serial adaptors in particular...

However, FTDI do have special drivers that allow some of their chips to be used in a properly-supported "bit-banged" mode - do you happen to know if this works with these cables?
