#174561 - GSM Module Testing
Dear Seniors,

I am trying to use my GSM module that is on a evaluation board to communicate with AT89C52. I have used the board with HyperTerminal and they are working fine with AT commands. I Have configured the HyperTerminal in Hardware, Software and none Handshaking and it is working in all of them, so i guess the module dose not need handshaking. Now when i checked the continuity of the cable that i am using, i found that pins on one end are connected to the same pin number to the other end, i.e 1 to 1 , 2 to 2 , 3 to 3 and so on till 9 to 9.

Now i tried to use my own cable in which i had 3 wires i.e. 2 to 2 , 3 to 3 and 5 to 5. But when i started hyperterminal, i was no longer able to send AT commands. I addition HyperTerminal stopped responding after a few seconds.

I am i a fix here. If there is no handshaking then how come the 3 wire concept is not working. Do you think that i need to connect the other wires as well ??
