#169763 - CAN protocol
I have read that huge article on CAN protocol here and some of the bosch spec. basically our team is using a specific ECU manufactured by KMS van kronenburg. The only details they release on the CAN system implemented is a "how to" connect it to their own datalogger. Not even a mention of spec A or B. I am assuming that the ECU acts as the host, and I can use any microcontroller that is CAN readily compatible. However, I have looked at a few calculators for setting the speeds of the devices involved.

As I do not know the speed of the information coming out of our ECU, would you reccomend downloading their software for reading this information from the ECU and comparing this to the file itself somehow (what editor could I use to view the information efficiently?, i.e not at a bit level and seperating out the DATA, remote, error and acnowledgement frames myself), all to find out what each bit of the information means.

i.e their software will tell me, fuel mixture ratio, revs, lambda, etc. I can look how this compares second by second in the raw information sent from the ECU.

Can anyone think of a better way to find out what the data coming out of our ECU would be? (so I can begin to imagine how I am going to code this beast.)
