NO need connection to Internet for sent data to PC/server.

Incorrect: You do need an internet connection (of any sort) at the PC if you're using GPRS!

As already noted, GPRS gives you an IP connection; ie, an Internet connection - so the PC must also have an internet connection to match!

As also noted, it is irrelevant how that internet connection is provided - whether dial-up PSTN, ADSL, or whatever.

What kind of OS for PC/server?

As the software is in VB, I think it's a safe assumption that we're talking Windows here!

Did your's like this:

8051+SIM300++++GSM network------PSTN---USB/Serial modem---PC/server.

That would be A GSM Circuit-Switched Data (CSD) call - not GPRS.

Just needed make the modem(USB/serial) worked to answer the incomming dial.
There's at manual to activated the autoanswer.
and install at OS the server program(PPPd or Slipd,FTPd,HTTPd,etc).

An advantage of using GPRS and IP is that you don't need to worry about any of that - you just use the existing, standard internet connection!

Take look at

http://www.edaboard.com/viewtopic...ght=sim300

There's already VB program to act the SIM300 as server.
download some .pdf files.

I forgot some of info's cause studied 2 years ago.

Thank's
