#166470 - GPRS communication between 8051 & PC |
Hello Friends,
I am working on a project in which, my 8051 based instrument will communicate to a PC side software over GPRS network. In the existing system, my instrument reads its inputs and sends the data to the PC side s/w [which i have written in VB] through RS232 link. Now we want to replace the RS232 link with a GPRS network. I have got a GPRS modem [sim300]. I am implementing the necessary AT+commands to interface the modem. But the question is, what I have to do with the PC side s/w? Do i need to have a server/domain on the internet? or my PC side s/w can be modified to act as a server? How to get public IP adress for my s/w? Is it MUST to implement FTP protocol on the instrument side, or some different simpler protocol [like Modbus serial communication ] can be implemented?? Lots of questions! Please suggest me a way.. Thanks |
