Hi Stefan,

I gleaned over the thread you linked to, and the few postings I saw that suggested floating one end of the cable shield recommended connecting to the hub/PC end and floating the device (PCB) end. The idea seems to be that the PC/hub will have already gone through the development and testing phase, thereby providing the better grounding choice.

Of course, the most salient point I saw in the thread was when someone pointed out that there is no industry standard way of doing this. Each instance depends on its own circumstance.
