That's the trouble with "undefined" behaviour - it can sometimes look like "working"! The arrangement you've shown is "bad" - it is abusing the RS232 connection - but it is possibe that it could appear to "work" under certain circumtances. the other defective device can only receive and could not transmit when connected to a pc but both tx/rx works fine when connected to a device. This is also typical of a "bad" design "working" by pure luck. ..i also have thesame circuit on the breadboard but could no longer receive the signal coming from both devices i assembled...but its transmitted signal can be received b both devices. Again, typical of "undefined" behaviour. |
