Thanks for the thoughts. I hadn't considered using ICP in system.

We have ICP headers on the board at the moment and currently use this for programming (it is fool proof), however it would be nice to field upgrade over the I2C bus, we could indeed take the ICP pins to the uProcessor (we have an ARM9 on board) but that raises a whole heap more issues (like addressing the multiple LPC9xx devices on the board) that simply stuffing it down the already connected I2C bus wouldn't have, and there is less hardware.

On the Reboot issue, I would have thought that not servicing the WDT would do a pretty effective job?

On the rebooting 1/2 way through a download issue, I would have thought that wouldn't matter as you would not have changed the boot vector? And you would therefor still reboot back to original application.
