I want to ask a silly question...have you verified by direct measurement that the P2.5 operations you are performing are actually getting to the physical RTC part?
If not I would strongly suggest that you use an oscilloscope to verify this. It may even be helpful to make a very simple test program that does nothing but toggle the rtcce bit using the same definitions and syntax as your RTC program and use that in conjunction with the oscilloscope measurement.
