You need to start by writing down a clear definition of the requirements for this project!

  • In what environment will this be used?

  • What will it need to print - just text? graphics? or what?

  • Where will the stuff to be printed be coming from?

  • Does the microcontroller need to do the full job of rendering the input into dots on the paper, or is there another processor to do that?

  • performance requirements - speed, etc

    etc, etc,...

    You should have those defined before even thinking about selecting a printer mechanism.

    Is this a "hobby" project, or a commercial job?
