#160579 - spi?
Responding to: ???'s previous message
Amor,
Eric asked about external interface - out of box - to PC or other device.
SPI will be aplicable inside printer - to printer head. RS232/USB/ETHERNET onchip or trough SPI will be applicable to PC .
It seems You maust refine requirements first.
On other hand any 8 bit micro can print simple things. If You plane to make simple ticket printer - You can use 805x with 32kB flash and 256 bytes RAM.
Any graphic will require huge RAM. Big RAM is needed for speed, graphic and
complex fonts (these need big flash too). Off-chip storage flash will be needed too for these complex tasks. So it depends of requirements
- x80x51 , SPI for head, UART to external world
or
- ARM with 256kB flash and at least 32kB RAM , SPI for printer head,
SPI for dataflash, UART/USB/ETHERNET or SPI-to USB/ETHENET bridge to external world.
Some PWM for stepper motor control maybe is applicable too (at later stage).

regards
